Xishi’s Native Place----Zhuji enjoys rich natural and human tourist resources, with celebrity (Xishi), places of interest (Wuxie), famous ancient houses (Si’s Houses with Hundreds of Columns), and famous products (pearl and Chinese torreya) enjoying fine positions and influences in the whole country, which is China’s Excellent Tourist City and Hometown of China’s Folk Industrial Arts.
In the river bank, where Xishi washed voile, two powerful and vigorous characters----Huansha was left by famous calligrapher Wang Xizhi. Early built in Tang Dynasty, Xishi Temple, was rebuilt in 1989 and enlarged in 2001, whose area is over 20 thousand meters now, encompassing Xishi Temple, Ancient Yue’s Platform, Beauty Pond, Xishi Long Corridor, Yiguang Pavilion, Zhuluo Village, and Showroom of Xishi’s Historical Material, and attracting tourists of over 10 thousand person times yearly. In the scenic spot of Zheng Dan’s Native Place, some derived items including fishing home’s amorous feelings, ancient streets of the fishing village, and boating on the river is to be developed. In the scenic spot of Fan Li’s Rock, parts of the temples will be selectively rebuilt, some tourist reception establishments will be developed, and the image of Fan Li, the Grandfather of China’s Business, will be showed in all-round way.
Wuxie, locating in the western Zhuji, being one of the State Key Scenic Region of Interests, China’s AAAA Tourist Region, and State-level Forest Garden, boasts five grand waterfalls with wandering affection and untrammeled and generous atmosphere, admired and appreciated by all the tourists. The tourist region also boasts the Caodong Zen Sect’s Temple----Wuxie Zen Temple, where Liang Jia, the originator of Caodong, firstly donned the robe and shaved the head, Nanmu wood special in East China, and ichthyoilite rare in the south bank of the Yangtaze Delta. The green and thriving forest vegetation, untrammeled and generous Wuxie Waterfall, piety and innovative Caodong Zen sect’s teachings, and the ichthyoilite group recording the history of billions of years ago, attracts over 300 thousand tourists from home and abroad yearly.
Douyan Scenic Region is one of Shaoxing’s Scenic Spots and Places of Interest, State AA Tourist Region, with a typical Danxia geomorphology characteristic, being famous for the add peak and dangerous rock, queer rock and deep cavity, prosperous forest and transparent spring, and other natural sceneries, encompassing scenic spots of Douyan Great Buddha, Qianfo Hill, Jinjin Dragon’s Pool, White Cloud Zen Academy, West Yellow Rock, and so on.
Si’s ancient folk architecture group, built during the reign of the Emperor Jiaqing of Qing Dynasty, was constituted by 14 unit architecture, each of which occupied area of over 300 sq meters with the largest hitting 12500 sq meters, and is preserved completely. It is known for its grand architecture style, intelligent design, and the elaborate three kinds of carvings (wood carving, stone carving, and brick carving), and is the China’s Cultural Relic Protection Unit and Provincial-level Historical and Cultural Protection Zone.
Fengqiao is the birthplace of “Fengqiao Experience” instructed by Mao Zhedong, and the provincial-level historical and cultural protection zone with profound human deposit, three historical and cultural celebrities, namely Chen Hongshou, Wang Mian, Yang Weizhen, Fengqiao Temple, where Zhou Enlai addressed the anti-Japanese speech, and Donghuacheng Temple Pavilion, the best-known historical and cultural relic in local area.
Zhuji is the Hometown of Chinese Torreya, with the largest output in China, where over 30 thousand ancient Chinese torreya trees with unique shapes grows in group , enjoying a precious resource to develop the ecological tourism of plants’ originating place.
